Daniel & Michelle | Tips for a Snow Winter Engagement Session | Pinecrest Lake, CA

Pinecrest Lake Snow Winter Engagement

Daniel and Michelle told me during our consultation that they had just gone to the mountains with their two huskies so that they could enjoy the snow and cold weather. When the suggestion arose to have their engagement session at Pinecrest Lake, I could not contain my excitement. If you have never been or heard of Pinecrest Lake, you have to visit! Summer and Fall are hands down the best seasons to explore. However, because it is a favorite place, more people are around for their family vacations so in this scenario a Pinecrest Lake winter engagement session became the unexpected ideal.

Tips to Know When Having a Snow Winter Engagement Session

Time is different in the winter Months.

Especiallly when shooting in the mountains and wanting that golden hour glow- the sun comes down faster, so it's essential to have a time buffer to make sure that you are on location on the time specified by the photographer. A big lesson learned with Daniel and Michelle's Pinecrest Lake Winter Engagement was that traveling in snow takes a lot longer than one expects. Stopping and putting on chains takes time as well which also requires you to drive a lot slower.

The sad truth was that we were late which rushed the entire engagement session. However, because of the next tip, thankful everything was able to be captured beautifully in a short amount of time.

Bring help.

Under ideal circumstances, there would have been no need to rush. Having adequate time helps the couples enjoy themselves, not worry (otherwise these emotions can be expressed in their images), get to know their photographer, and familiarize themselves with how the photographer is directing them as similar directions will transpire on their wedding day.

Michelle brought three of her sisters while Daniel had brought his dad and younger brother to their winter engagement session. Daniel's brother was in charge of watching the two dogs while everyone else helped with outfit changes, hair, and makeup. It was because Michelle and Daniel had their family's help; this gave us the opportunity to do more with the time we had left.

Trusting Your Photographer is Key

Daniel and Michelle's session turned out AMAZING and loved all their photos! Thank you for trusting me through the entire engagement session mini journey and I am super excited for your upcoming wedding in December this year.
